On September 2, 2026, we had the privilege of welcoming H.E. Sulaiman Syarif, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, together with officials from the Embassy of Indonesia in Buenos Aires, to the Stella Maris Scalabrinian Center. Their visit provided a meaningful opportunity to spend time with our Indonesian fishers and share a moment of fellowship, encouragement, and solidarity.
A Meaningful Time Together
The gathering was a simple but meaningful expression of care and companionship. Being far from home can be challenging, especially for those who spend long periods away from their families and loved ones. Moments of conversation and presence can bring comfort and remind them that they are valued and remembered.
A Listening Ear and a Welcoming Heart
At Stella Maris, we believe that sometimes the most important support we can offer is simply being present and listening. Our center seeks to be a welcoming place where seafarers and fishers can find friendship, understanding, and a sense of belonging.
The visit of the Indonesian Embassy was a beautiful reflection of this shared commitment to accompany and support those who live and work at sea.
Standing Together in Solidarity
The presence of the Embassy of Indonesia and the Stella Maris community reminded our Indonesian fishers that they are not alone. Through cooperation, friendship, and mutual support, we can create a stronger network of care for those who are far from home.
We are truly grateful to H.E. Ambassador Sulaiman Syarif, the Embassy of Indonesia, and everyone who helped make this gathering possible. Their presence brought warmth and encouragement to our maritime community.
A Home Away From Home
Stella Maris remains committed to being a place of welcome, friendship, and hope for seafarers and fishers of every nationality. Our doors are always open, and we strive to offer a listening ear and a caring presence to those who may be far from their families.
May God continue to bless, strengthen, and protect our seafarers, fishers, and their families as we continue walking together in a spirit of compassion and solidarity.
