A Shared Mission of Solidarity and Care: Welcoming the Rotary Club

We had the joy of welcoming the Rotary Club to Stella Maris Uruguay as they celebrated another year of their mission. It was a meaningful afternoon of friendship, conversation, and solidarity with our seafarers and fishers. Together, we shared refreshments, exchanged stories about life at sea, and learned more about each other’s missions. Their generous gifts of food and winter essentials—brought warmth and comfort to our maritime community. We are grateful for their kindness, partnership, and continued support.

We had the joy of welcoming the Rotary Club to Stella Maris as they celebrated another year of their mission. It was a special occasion shared with our seafarers and fishers, bringing everyone together for an afternoon of friendship, conversation, and solidarity. We were truly honored to be part of this meaningful celebration.

A Time to Connect and Share

The gathering offered an opportunity for everyone to slow down, enjoy some refreshments, and spend time together.

We shared about our respective missions and exchanged stories, particularly about life at sea and the realities faced by those who work on the water. For our seafarers and fishers, having the opportunity to share their experiences with others can be an important reminder that their work and challenges are seen and valued.

These conversations are at the heart of meaningful community. They allow us not only to learn from one another, but also to recognize the experiences and people behind every mission.

Bringing Warmth to Our Maritime Community

The Rotary Club also arrived with generous gifts for our seafarers and fishers, including food, winter gloves, socks, and beanies.

During the colder days, these practical gifts provided much-needed comfort and warmth. More importantly, they carried a message of care and solidarity.

Every contribution, no matter how simple, can make a difference when it responds to a real need and is offered with genuine concern for others.

Partnership in Service

The visit was also a reminder of the importance of partnerships in creating stronger communities.

Organizations may serve in different ways and respond to different needs, but they can find common ground in the desire to support people and promote human dignity.

At Stella Maris, collaboration with community organizations helps us strengthen the network of care surrounding seafarers and fishers. Through these relationships, we can continue creating spaces where those who work at sea feel welcomed, supported, and connected.

A Shared Commitment to Care

Hospitality is more than opening a door. It is about making people feel that they belong.

The gathering with the Rotary Club reflected this spirit. Through conversation, generosity, and shared time, a simple visit became an opportunity to strengthen relationships and remind our maritime community that they are not alone.

We are deeply grateful to the Rotary Club for their kindness, generosity, and support, and to our seafarers and fishers for sharing their time and stories with us.

Continuing the Journey Together

The mission of Stella Maris Uruguay continues through the support of people and organizations who believe in the importance of accompanying those who work at sea.

There are many ways to be part of this mission—from sharing our work and volunteering to offering practical support and building partnerships within the wider community.

Together, we can continue creating a community where seafarers and fishers are welcomed with dignity, accompanied with care, and reminded that they always have a place where they can find friendship and support.
