Faith, Culture, and Community: Celebrating St. John Baptist Scalabrini

We joyfully celebrated the Feast of St. John Baptist Scalabrini with a heartfelt Mass followed by a vibrant cultural gathering. Migrants from different communities came together to share music, dance, traditional performances, and dishes from their countries, creating a beautiful celebration of faith, heritage, and unity. Inspired by Scalabrini’s mission of accompanying migrants, the gathering reminded us of the beauty of walking together and building a community rooted in faith, culture, compassion, and solidarity.

On June 1, 2025, we celebrated the Feast of St. John Baptist Scalabrini with a heartfelt Mass followed by a vibrant cultural gathering. It was a joyful occasion that brought together migrant communities through faith, culture, and fellowship, creating a space where everyone could feel welcomed and valued.

A Celebration Rooted in Faith

The celebration began with a meaningful Mass, bringing us together in prayer and gratitude. As we remembered the life and legacy of St. John Baptist Scalabrini, we were reminded of his deep commitment to migrants and his call to accompany people on their journeys with compassion and dignity.

Sharing Our Cultures and Stories

Following the Mass, the celebration came alive through music, dance, and traditional performances. Migrants from different communities shared expressions of their heritage, allowing everyone to appreciate the richness and diversity of the cultures that make up our community.

These moments of sharing were more than performances—they were opportunities to tell stories, preserve traditions, and celebrate the identities and experiences that each person carries with them.

A Table Filled With Diversity

Food also brought everyone together. We shared traditional dishes from different countries, creating a beautiful table that reflected the many cultures represented in our community.

Around the table, conversations, laughter, and fellowship reminded us that sharing a meal can create meaningful connections and help turn differences into opportunities for encounter and friendship.

Living the Scalabrinian Mission

The celebration captured the spirit of the Scalabrinian mission: walking alongside migrants and building a community rooted in faith, culture, and compassion.

St. John Baptist Scalabrini dedicated his life to accompanying migrants, recognizing their dignity and responding to the challenges they faced far from home. His example continues to inspire us to welcome, listen, and walk together with those who are beginning new journeys.

One Community, Many Stories

Our celebration was a beautiful reminder that diversity is a gift. When people from different backgrounds come together, each culture adds something unique to the shared life of the community.

Through faith, food, music, and fellowship, we celebrated not only St. Scalabrini, but also the people and stories that continue to shape our community today.
